Gary L. Symmes, 68, of Noblesville, passed away on the morning of Friday, September 16, 2016 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. He was born on October 11, 1947 to Earl and Mary (Blake) Myers in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Gary was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, and proudly served his county in the United States Marines during the Vietnam War. For 18 years, he worked for Marsh Supermarkets, and a local machine shop for 7 years. Gary was a member of White River Christian Church where he volunteered at the food pantry. He enjoyed working in his yard, and was an excellent handyman who could fix and repair most anything. Most of all, Gary loved spending time with his family and especially enjoyed playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Becky J. (Armstrong) Symmes; they would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in January. Also surviving are daughters, Andrea (Kenny) Humphress and Melissa (Steve) Eubanks; son, Chuck Siler; three grandchildren, Brianna Humphress, and Alex & Tanner Eubanks; brother, Wayne Myers; step-brother, Jim Symmes; brother-in-law, Bob (Mary Jane) Armstrong; sister-in-law, Roberta (John) Tague; as well as several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by his step-father, Jim Symmes.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street in Noblesville, with visitation from 10:00 am to the time of service. Pastor Fred Knoll will officiate.
