Geneva Gay Berry, 98, of Cicero, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Riverview Health in Noblesville. She was born on November 30, 1915 to John and Opal (Abbitt) Pittman in Jolietville, Indiana.
Geneva had been a nurses aid in the Urology Department at Methodist Hospital, where she was known as 'Skippy'. She had also worked at the Hamilton County Opportunity School; and for Dr. James A. Dillon. She retired from the Hamilton County Highway Department. She was a member of Hinkle Creek Friends Church in Noblesville; the Westfield U.S.F.W. (Eliza Armstrong Honorary); and the Westfield Monday Afternoon Club. She was also a 60+ member of the Westfield Order of the Eastern Star (which is now Cicero O.E.S.), where she served in several officer positions and was a Past Worth Matron and a Grand Representative for the State of Indiana. She loved spending time with her family, traveling and needlepoint.
She is survived by husband, Hubert Berry whom she married on August 15, 1937; sons, Hugh E. (Phyllis) Berry, and Joe A. (Ruth) Berry; seven grandchildren, Chris Berry, Patricia Knapp, Susan Greer, Gregg Berry, Kevin Berry, Kimberly Hiatt, and Brent Berry; 11 great-grandchildren, Ryan Cummings, Jason Berry, Danielle Willock, Athené Knapp, Luke Knapp, Matilda Berry, Zachery Greer, Brandon Greer, Tori Jo Hiatt, Johnna Hiatt, and Ashley Jump; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and nephew, Benton Pittman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter and one son who died in infancy; and two brothers, Cecil Pittman and Glenn Pittman.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 14, 2014, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with Rev. Doug Shoemaker and Rev. Jack Holliday officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home, with an O.E.S. service beginning at 7:30 pm. Burial will be at Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.
