Georganna M. Smallman, 76, of Carmel, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 (with her loving family at her bedside) after a brief but valient battle against cancer. She was born on October 25, 1935 to Oscar and Delphia (Owens) Massingale in Balkan, Kentucky.
Georganna's beautiful smile greeted customers in the bakery and meat departments of O'Malia's grocery stores for over 34 years. She loved making Sunday dinners for her entire family (she was known for her amazing chicken and dumplings), gardening, cuddling her dog and shopping with her daughters. She also was a loyal fan of the Pacer and Colts.
She is survived by her childhood sweetheart and husband of 58 years, Joe (Jakie) Smallman, her daughters, Sandy Hanaway, Angelia Johnson, Amy (and son-in-law Matt) Winston, her niece Diane Killinger (and her son Nick), grandchildren Joe Hanaway (wife Brooke and stepson Jake), Jill Hanaway (fiancee Sean Lewis), Rowan Winston and Georgia Winston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Vernon Lee Massingale.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 19,2012, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
