George Gheen Jr.

George David Gheen Jr., 87, Fishers, passed away Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. He was born January 13, 1921 in Indianapolis to George D. Sr.and Mary (Schlangen) Gheen.
George served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War. George worked for Fort Benjamin Harrison for 30 years as the deputy director of industrial operations. George also worked as a real estate agent in the Indianapolis area. He was a founding member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Indianapolis. He attended St. Louis deMontfort Catholic Church in Fishers and was a member of the Lawrence Exchange Club and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by daughters, Catherine (& Jay)  Blewett of Lorton, VA and M. Suzanne Wininger of Scottsdale, AZ; sons, Dennis (& Connie) Gheen of Fishers and William R. (& Mei) Gheen of Indianapolis; daughter, Patricia (& husband Kim Heisler) Gheen of Aurora, OH; sister, Mary Margaret Cangany of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his wife Mary Margaret (Galloway) Gheen, son David George Gheen, and brother Robert Gheen.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 4650 N. Shadeland, Indianapolis with Monsignor Mark Svarczkopf officiating. Friends may call Tuesday, November 11, 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
