Harold D. Reed, 77, of Noblesville, passed away peacefully after an eleven month battle with ALS on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at his home in Noblesville. He was born on November 22, 1939 to Clarence and Mabel (Easterday) Reed in Fulton County, Indiana.
Harold attended Faith Community Church in Noblesville and was a member of REACT CB organization and the Old Codgers Group from RCA. He was also a member of various Square/Round Dance clubs for 52 years, and he attended Purdue University and the Space Academy in Alabama. Harold was in the U.S. Army intelligence and served in Korea for 13 months. He also taught English and conversation at a Korean orphanage. Some of his favorite past times included traveling abroad, zip-lining, fishing, and he bowled on 3 leagues throughout the years. Harold was also an avid woodcrafter and he volunteered with the special Olympics. He was known for his service to the homeless through his street ministry as well as his leadership with "Harold's Helping Hands" ALS team. Harold was an avid bird watcher and loved all animals, especially his cats, Smokey & Goldie.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Reed; daughters, Teresa Lynch (husband J.R.) & Tamara Kirby (husband Jack); step-sons, Derek Huff (wife Dana) & Randy Wiseman (wife Molina); step-daughters, Kendra Leny & Tanya Wiseman-Mendez (husband Roque); his sister-in-law, Ruth Reed; several other brothers- & sisters-in law; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son, Terry Reed; brothers, Dwight Reed & Wilbur Dean Reed; and former wives, Annette Reed in 1993 and Susan Huff-Reed in 2010.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville. Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at the funeral home, with one hour of calling immediately prior to the service. Pastor Patrick Propst will officiate. Burial will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
