Helen Meaker Bowser, 75, formerly of Noblesville, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was born on February 14, 1934 in Syracuse, New York, the daughter of the late Merritt Fuller and Mary Helen (Fuller) Meaker. On March 15, 1969, she was united in marriage in Indianapolis to Jay Edward Bowser, who preceded her in death on November 20, 1996.
She was a graduate of Bronson Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Kalamazoo, Michigan and Eastern Michigan University School of Occupational Therapy. She also held a B.A. degree in Religion from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tennessee. Helen worked as an operating room nurse and an occupational therapist for many years, living in Michigan, Colorado, California and Indiana. She became a homemaker in 1970 and lived in Indiana until moving to Missouri in 2003 to be near family.
Helen was a member of Noblesville First Friends Church and attended Community Christian Church in Jefferson City. She was a past member of the Indiana Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Horseshoe Prairie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed genealogy, politics, creating artwork, taking care of her flowers and playing with her granddaughters. Her creativity, sense of humor, honesty and grace made the world more beautiful. She had a compassionate, sensitive spirit and was a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by two children: Lynne Holsapple and husband Aaron of Jefferson City and Steve Bowser of Louisville, Kentucky. She is also survived by two granddaughters in Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her brother, Merritt Fuller Meaker, Jr.
Friends will be received from 4:00 - 7:00PM on Thursday, May 27th at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville. A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, May 28th at First Friends Church, 1095 Division Street, Noblesville. A private burial will take place in Cicero Cemetery, Cicero, Indiana.
