On April 16th 2014, we lost our dear sister, Helen Marie (Mimi) Gray to lung cancer. After a short but intense battle against this disease, she passed peacefully at home in Noblesville, Indiana surrounded by loved ones. Mimi was born in Savannah, Georgia on June 14th, 1952 to William and Helen Gray.
After growing up around the world in a military family, Mimi settled with her partner Hal in Plimpton, Mass and began her career in law enforcement. The last several years were spent as the first Resource Officer at Marshfield High School. She was so loved and respected in her community that the annual Helen Gray Scholarship for graduating seniors has been established there.
Mimi was predeceased by her parents, Bill and Helen of North Little Rock, her brother Bill Gray, niece Jamie Chunn, and nephew Glenn Chunn. She leaves behind her partner of 35 years, Hal Westcott, sisters Roslyn Noble, Jean Bledsoe (Bryan), and Beth Asquith, and brother Rob Gray (Garrett). She never forgot a birthday or holiday and was a beloved aunt to nieces Heather Bacher (Bruce), Shannon Bledsoe (Youcef Iouknane), Ariel Asquith, Marlee Asquith, Leslie Gray, and Rachel Chunn, and nephew Bob Bledsoe. She was also a loving aunt to grandniece Vanessa Bacher, and grandnephews Justin, Ryan and Brandon Bledsoe and Adam Iouknane.
Mimi was known for her love and care of animals, especially the family dogs. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your favorite animal shelter.
