Hilbert E. Ford, 82, of Fishers, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. He was born on April 27, 1928 to Dempsey D. and Edell (Moore) Ford in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Hilbert worked as an Electrician for Indianapolis Water Company for 40 years.
Hib and Mary Ann were married 59 years (June 7, 1951). They were square dancers for 22 years.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge - Noblesville, and a member of the Union A.F.L. - C.I.O. He loved making telescopes, clocks, enjoyed astronomy, and was a woodmaker/craftsman. He built two boats from scratch, a homemade helicopter, and built the house that his family lives in today. He was always a man who achieved so much in life and always had a job.
He was a veteran of the Navy/Air Force during the Korean War.
He is survived by two sons - Rob (wife, Susan) Ford and Terry Ford, Sr.; brother - Norman (wife, Dorothy) Ford; three grandchildren - Terry Ford, Jr., Melissa Ford, and Michael Ford; and two great-grandchildren - Lexus Ford and Salee Ford.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Ford Thrall; and three brothers, Thurston Ford, Morris Ford, and Richard Ford.
Services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, November 5, 2010, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville, with Pastor Jeff Buck officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, November 4, 2010 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hamilton Southeastern High School Scholarship Fund.
