Horace B. McHone, 94, former resident of Sciotoville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in Carmel, Indiana. Horace was born to Charles and Inath (McCandless) McHone, in Portsmouth, Ohio on January 4, 1926.
Horace attended school in Portsmouth, Ohio. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and is a World War II Veteran. He served in the Pacific Theatre during the war and landed troops on the beach at Okinawa. Horace was a water plant operator for the city of Portsmouth, Ohio for 33 years. He retired in 1991. Horace enjoyed music, playing his steel guitar, and following his favorite sports teams including the Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by sons, Michael (Ilene) McHone of Carmel, IN and Ronald (Angela) McHone of Ironton, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jay (Koryn) McHone, Ryan (Tiffany) McHone, Heather McHone, and Lyndsey McHone; and seven great grandchildren, Brayden McHone, Delainey McHone, Bryson McHone, Ellarie McHone, Amiyah McHone, Brody McHone, and Jocelynn McHone
Horace was proceeded in death by his parents, his six siblings, and his wife, Mildred (Pyle) McHone.
There will be a service on Friday, February 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at Memorial Burial Park, 10556 Gallia Pike Rd, Wheelersburg, OH 45694. Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Fishers, Indiana is assisting with the arrangements.
