Irmgard Marie Kah

Irmgard Kah was born on February 16, 1928 in Té¼bingen, Germany and was raised in the small farm village of Ohnastetten in the Swabian Alp region of southern Germany. While growing up, she had many friends and was often "the life of the party." As a teenager, Irmgard was very active in her local evangelical church where she played the organ and sang in the choir. She was musically gifted and played other instruments as well, including the accordion and harmonica.
In her early 20s, Irmgard met the love of her life and was married to Heinrich Kah in 1952. The young couple enlarged the family farm and remained active at their church in Ohnastetten until they immigrated to the United States in 1956. They settled in the Dayton, Ohio area along with several of their closest relatives. There, Irmgard would work for a time as a seamstress for Metropolitan Department Store. Following the birth of their son Gerhard (Gary) in 1959, the couple moved to nearby Kettering where they would live for 45 years. During that time, the Kah family became very involved at Kettering United Brethren in Christ Church where Irmgard was the organist for many years. Meanwhile, she also served as a volunteer at Kettering Memorial Hospital. In 2006, Irmgard and Heinrich moved to Noblesville, Indiana to be closer to their son and his family. Once in Noblesville, they attended Harbour Shores Church while enjoying time spent with their son, daughter-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irmgard's ministry included encouraging others through cards and notes and praying for those who needed a touch from the Lord. But, she was also known for her sense of humor and contagious laughter that could make everyone in the room laugh (without even knowing why) - and for making the most incredible Swabian potato salad for family and church functions. 
Music was always an important part of Irmgard's life. Even following her strokes four years ago, she continued to enjoy the old Christian hymns, singing or humming the alto part. She worshipped the Lord Jesus through song until He took her home last Tuesday evening. No doubt, she is now singing beautiful praises in Heaven.
Irmgard is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Heinrich Kah; son, Gary (Audrey) Kah; grandchildren, Alyssa Kah, Olivia (Matthew) Vohwinkel, Carly (Raymond) Vartanian, and Christian Kah; and great-grandchildren, Jacob & Judah Vohwinkel and Nora Vartanian. Irmgard was preceded in death by her parents, Heinrich and Marie Gekeler and her only sibling, Karl Gekeler.
Services will be held on Tuesday, May 16th at 12 noon at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville, IN 46062. Visitation will precede the service from 10:30 am to 12 noon.
