Ivan I Young, 89, of Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at home. He was born on May 10, 1922 to Notra N. and Blanche (Hartup) Young in Hamilton County, Indiana.
Ivan retired from Firestone Industrial Products in 1980, after 31 1/2 years of service. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps and was a WWII veteran. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Noblesville and the Noblesville Lions Club. Ivan loved his grandchildren dearly; and enjoyed woodworking, camping, airshows and socializing at Jim Dandy and Bob Evans.
He is survived by son, David (Janice) Young of Columbus, OH; daughters, Penny (Bill Smith) Griffe of Indianapolis & Connie (Robert) Kline of San Bernardino, CA; step-daughter, Terri (Allen) Forey of Carmel; step-son, John (Bobbie) Todd of Lapel; step-daughter, Patty (Joe) Robinson of Richmond, TX; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. His family would like to especially thank his hospice nurse, Carol Fletcher, for her special care of Ivan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Barbara Jean Young who passed away in 2004.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville, with Victor Harber officiating. Visitation will be Friday, October 14, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
