John (Jack) Randolph Crews, 89, of Carmel, passed peacefully into his eternal home December 1, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Jack was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, on September 16, 1924.
He attended Pittsburg State University, UCLA, and received his degree from Kansas University. Jack was an avid sportsman, lettering in football, basketball, and track. He was in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier for three years in World War II. He worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for 37 years in the international department, and traveled all over the world. Jack loved playing golf, bridge, scrabble, and crossword puzzles! Jack was a member of Grace Church in Noblesville, IN, and valued supporting Grace as well as several other ministries.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Diane Parkman, and her husband, Bob, as well as his brother, Robert A. Crews, and his grandchildren, Daniel James Parker, Angela Parker Jarvis, Heather Elizabeth Buchanan, Jessica Rachelle Parkman, and Scott Crews Parkman. He also leaves two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ida Crews, his wife, Violet Jeane Crews, and his daughter, Connie Jeane Parker.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at Ozark Memorial Park in Joplin, MO, on Sunday, December 8th.
