Jack Krause Wheeler, 88, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on September 24, 1922 to Tom Wheatley Wheeler and Georgia (Krause) Wheeler in Kokomo, Indiana.
Jack graduated from Noblesville High School in 1940, and from Butler University, where he played varsity tennis, in 1948. During WWII, as a Lt. j.g., he served as Executive Officer aboard a Navy sub chaser, SC742, in the Southwest Pacific area. Having resided in Indianapolis since his college days, Jack was retired from Transamerica Insurance Co..
He is survived by his brother, Phillip T. Wheeler of Noblesville; son, Steven Alan Wheeler of San Rafael, CA; daughter, Susan Jo (Brian) Thompson of Sarasota, FL; daughter, Sandra Kay (David) Walker of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and five grandchildren: Buck and Max Merritt; Daniel, Morgan and Jesse Walker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Herbert Whetsel.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville, with Pastor John Davis officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
