James "Jim" Lynn McCauley

James “Jim” Lynn McCauley, 77, of Fishers, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and his two sons.

Born on July 1, 1947, to Clyde and Emily McCauley in Akron, Ohio. Jim grew up in a household with his older and younger sisters. He graduated from North High School in 1965, attended The Ohio State University, and proudly served six years in the Army Reserves.

In 1985, Jim and his family moved from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, to Fishers, Indiana, where he embarked on a long and successful career as a traveling salesman in the restaurant equipment industry. He retired in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, hard work, and cherished relationships with colleagues and clients.

Jim was known for his sharp wit, quick humor, and ability to make everyone around him feel at ease. He could brighten even the dullest moments, and knew that laughter is oftentimes the best medicine.

A devoted sports fan, Jim's passion for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland sports teams was unmatched. Even after moving to Indiana, his loyalty as a former Browns season ticket holder never wavered. Later in life, his favorite teams became those his beloved grandchildren played on, and he was their biggest supporter, cheering on every sport and activity with pride.

A lifelong golfer, Jim cherished an annual 40-year tradition of traveling to Myrtle Beach with his Ohio buddies. In retirement, he could often be found on the course at Sahm Golf Club, where he played nearly every day and achieved his only hole-in-one on the 4th hole.

Jim’s creativity extended beyond the golf course; he had a talent for woodworking and took great pride in building furniture, shelves, and other "honey-do" projects—many of which he lovingly branded with his "Simpler Times" mark.

Above all, Jim was a family man whose love, humor, and wisdom left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him. We will miss the man who went by Jim, Muck, Dad, and Poppy. He was loved by so many people.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary Ann (Krispie) McCauley; his sons, Scott (Katie) McCauley of Fishers, IN, and Patrick McCauley of Big Sky, MT; and his adored grandchildren, Madeline and Declan. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Jarzenski, of Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Laughlin.

Jim will be laid to rest at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor his remarkable journey and the love he shared.
