James Thomas Morton

James Thomas Morton, 69, of Noblesville, passed away on the morning of Friday, February 5, 2016 at Riverwalk Village. He was born on December 23, 1946 to Howard Paul and Nancy Mae (Hilliard) Morton in Huntsville, Alabama. He was schooled in Huntsville where he played football, and he dearly loved the Indianapolis Colts.
James proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and worked in the power plant at Plainfield Boys School. He loved playing guitar, and played in the church band in Danville. James was very athletic and enjoyed exercising, playing sports, and watching his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a member of Calvary Apostolic Pentecostal Church and was active in the Noblesville Senior Citizens Organization.
James is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Travis) Peters; daughter, Candace Smith; grandchildren, Kyle Peters and Morgan Peters; brother, Leonard Morton; and sisters, Brenda Morton, Jane Heatherly, and Barbara Glover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in August of 2000 by his wife, Shirley Ann Morton; and brothers, Larry Morton, Billy Morton, and Charles Morton.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with visitation from 11:00 am to the time of service. Elder Garry D. Streeval will officiate. Burial will follow at Old Union Church Cemetery in Jamestown, Indiana.
