James John Nugent, 77, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at Maple Park Village in Westfield. He was born on July 8, 1947 to William and Dorothy (Sullivan) Nugent in Lafayette, Indiana.
Jim grew up on a golf course where his father was the golf pro. After moving into town, He attended Kentland High School with the best, most supportive bunch of friends he could ask for. He graduated in 1965 from Kentland High School, Indiana University (BA 1975, MPA 1980), and Purdue University in 1996. He worked for the State of Indiana for almost 40 years in various departments, retiring as Division Chief/Deputy Director for the Indiana Department of Information Technology State Highway. Jim enjoyed golfing, running and participating in the Mini Marathon. He was also a political junkie and very tech savvy.
Jim is survived by his wife of 46 years, Winifred Nugent; step-son, Dave (Julie) Petty; 2 granddaughters, Jessica (Austin) Layman and Anne Petty; as well as 3 nieces & 2 nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gabriel; step-son, Don Petty; and a brother, Bob Nugent.
Services will be held at a later date. Jim's family has entrusted Randall & Roberts Funeral Home with his care.
