James L. Wood, 92, of Noblesville (Clarksville), passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Prairie Lakes Health Campus in Noblesville. He was born on April 14, 1919 to James V. and Bertha (Bartlett) Wood in Attica, Indiana.
Jim worked at Delco-Remy in Anderson for 33 years, retiring in 1979.
He loved serving at Clarksville Christian Church, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of W.W.2, Jim was a member of Noblesville Masonic Lodge, he was an avid bowler, and was the self appointed Mayor of Clarksville. He was a frequent visitor of Jim Dandy, Uptown Cafe, and Chapman Electric. Jim loved his friends, he loved helping people, and was a jokester extraordinaire. He very much enjoyed their travels to Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Wood of Noblesville, daughter, Alwilda and husband David Dugger, daughter, Liz and husband Otto Berlin, son, James L. II and wife Jeneva Wood, daughter, Cindy Jones, sister, Betty Radcliffe, 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers & three sisters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 9, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 pm. Funeral Services will take place at Clarksville Christian Church Wednesday 11:00 am with Pastor Steve Fair officiating. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
