Jane Elizabeth Grieves, 92, of Fishers, passed away on the afternoon of Friday, May 27, 2016 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis. She was born on June 11, 1923 to Sydney H. and Gertrude (Morris) Hatch in Oak Park, Illinois.
Jane proudly served her country as a WAVE with the U.S. Navy during WWII, where she was a Pharmacist Mate Second Class at the Naval Hospital in San Leandro, CA. She completed her Basic Training at Hunter College in Bronx, NY and her Pharmacist Mate schooling in Bethesda, MD. To support her young children after the death of her first husband, she became an Avon representative, which she continued for approximately 30 years. She retired in 1979 as cafeteria manager for the Hayward Unified School District in California, having served them for over 25 years. Jane was a member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers, where she was involved in several areas of ministry, including St. Anne's Guild. She was a graduate of Trinity High School in River Forest, IL; and enjoyed a good walk. In 2003 she moved from Old Town, FL to Fishers to be near her family, whom she cherished.
She is survived by her children, Sydney McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Joan (Wally) McDonald Guilford, Steven (Peggy Sue) McDonald; stepchildren, Valerie Zappa and Randall (Toni) Grieves; grandchildren, Jessica McDonald, Steven McDonald Jr, Michelle McDonald Jacobo, Michael McDonald, Amy Sheffler, Matthew Sheffler, Keri Leece, Matthew Zappa, Jillian Zappa, Kameron Daugherty, Weston Grieves, Amanda Delgado and Lynsey Shafer; and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, and father of her children, Clarence Bee McDonald; her second husband, Guy Cecil McDonald; her third husband, Kenneth Charles Grieves; her twin sister, June Grieves; a brother, Herbert Hatch; and a grandchild, Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road in Fishers. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road in Fishers, with a Rosary at 4:00pm and a Wake at 6:45pm. Burial will be on Saturday, at 1:00 pm (CDT) at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, IL.
Memorial contributions may be offered to St. Anne's Guild or Sally Burton Food Pantry, both c/o St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church, 11441 Hague Road Fishers, IN 46038.
