Jerry L. Matthews

Jerry Lee Matthews, 78, of McCordsville, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Traditions at Brookside in McCordsville. He was born on October 21, 1946 to Eugene and Mildred (Stewart) Matthews in North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Jerry had a career of over twenty years at Amax Coal Company serving in various managerial positions. In 1997, Jerry was hired to begin the Office of Industrial Experience for the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University. He was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church and served as an elder in several churches. Jerry enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, dogs, reading, music, sports (esp baseball) and looking for rocks and gems.

He is survived by his wife, Emily Rhodes Matthews; daughters, Kacey Matthews and Kelly (Kenneth) McCain; sister-in-law, Debbie Goodman; and grandchildren, Nolan and Marin McCain.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
