Jerry Don Wood

Jerry Don Wood, 86, of Fishers, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 at his home. He was born on January 29, 1939 to Earl and Hannah (Goulding) Wood in Centralia, Illinois.

Jerry was a skilled mill worker who worked for US Steel for many years and then for Purdue University Environmental Services. He was an active person and prided himself on a healthy lifestyle. Jerry loved spending time with his family and treasured the family traditions during the holidays and throughout the year, including being the proud emcee of the annual Wood Olympics. He was a loving, supportive, and encouraging father, who loved sports, and had a great "Wood" humor.

He is survived by his sons, Cary (Irene) Wood and Kyle (Dawn) Wood; daughter, Amy (Jay) Dowell; previous wife, Brenda Wood; brother, Kenneth (Sarah) Wood; grandchildren, Liz (Heath) Yarger, Ben Byrd, Layla Byrd, Max Byrd, Griffin Wood, Finley Wood, Grady Wood, Jake Dowell, Mason Dowell, Hayden Dowell, and Bodhi Dowell; great-grandchildren, Cary James "CJ" and Harrison Yarger; niece, Laura (Brian) Hengels; and nephew, Michael (Carol) Wood.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Aubrey Rose Wood.

A private memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2005 at Hinsdale Covenant Church, 412 S Garfield St in Hinsdale, with Pastor Lars Stromberg officiating. Burial will be at Bronswood Cemetery in Hinsdale, Illinois.
