Dr. J.M. Shugart, 93, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at his home. He was born on November 20, 1922 to Wilson and Lois (Metsger) Shugart in Noblesville, Indiana.
Jim was a graduate of the University of Chicago and Indiana University. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, and for 44 years worked as an Optometrist. Jim was a member of the Noblesville Masonic Lodge #57 and the Noblesville Lions Club, where he also served as past president. A charter member of Fox Prairie Golf Course, Jim was an avid golfer. GOLF. GOLF. GOLF.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Janet Shugart; daughter, Terry Shugart; sons, Tim (Angie) McCarthy and Tom (Emilia) McCarthy; three grandchildren, Connie McCarthy, Sophie McCarthy, and Benen McCarthy; and niece, Lynn Coburn.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Francis Shugart; daughter, Adrienne Redding; son-in-law, Steve Redding; and sister, Thelma Coburn.
Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with visitation from 10:00 am to the time of service. Rev. Richard D. Bell and Rev. Ralph Singleton will officiate, with military rites to follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Memorials and Tributes Lockbox, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
