Joan Louise Galasso, 80, of Fishers, passed away on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Northridge Gracious Retirement Living in Fishers. She was born on October 21, 1936 to Alfred DeWalden and Eileen Antionette (Butler) Howard in Mount Vernon, New York.
Joan spent most of her adult life and raised her family in Valparaiso IN where she was a member and song leader at St. Paul's Catholic Church, a proud member of Sweet Adelines, worked in the medical field and volunteered as a respite care giver for Hospice. Upon retirement in 1999 Joan and her husband Len relocated to Hilton Head Sun City, SC where she became extremely active in civic theater. She returned to Indiana in 2012 to be closer to family. Joan was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Noblesville.
She is survived by two children, Gregory (Cathy) Galasso and Andra Galasso; two grandchildren, Matthew (Jennie) Galasso and Meg Galasso; sister, Eileen (Jerry) Corvino; and brother, James Howard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leonard P. Galasso; and three brothers, Art Howard, Al Howard and Paul Howard.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street in Noblesville, with Rev. Tom Metzger officiating. Burial of ashes will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Haiti Mission Fund, 9900 East 191st Street Noblesville, IN 46060.
