Joan (March) Piazza, 73, Noblesville, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009 at home. Born May 8, 1936 in Springfield, Missouri, she was the daughter of David and Lois (Riley) March.
Joan married Rev. Charles T. Piazza in 1962. He preceded her in death on Nov. 12, 2007.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Noblesville, where she was an active member. The Lutheran Women's Missionary League was very dear to her and she served as Christian Growth chairman and also served on Christ's outreach board.
She graduated from Truman University in 1959 with a BS in Education and in 1965 with a Masters degree in Elementary Education. In 1991 she attended Ball State University in Muncie where she received a Special Education certificate. She taught school in Springfield, IL, and Plymouth, Muncie, and Gas City, IN. For seven years, she was a substitute teacher for Special Education with the Noblesville Schools.
Rev. & Mrs. Piazza were blessed with seven sons, Rev. Adrian (Corinne) Piazza, Dr. Brian (Annika) Piazza, Chuck (Melody) Piazza, Doug (Karen) Piazza, Eric, Frederic, & Gary. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and a brother, Joe (Mary) March of Tatum, NM.
Services will be held at 7:30PM on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church in Noblesville, with Rev. Kurt Gremel officiating. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 3:00PM prior to the service. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, IL on Friday, July 24 at 1:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dakota Boys Ranch in Minot, ND; Worship for Shut-ins broadcast from Ft. Wayne; or the Christ Lutheran Youth Fund, c/o Christ Lutheran Church.
