Joe T. Smallman Jr., 82, of Carmel, left to be with God on July 20, 2012, where he was reunited with his wife and childhood sweetheart, Georganna Smallman, who passed away just three months ago. He married Georganna on July 31, 1954, and they shared a loving 57 year marriage. He was born on October 10, 1929 to Joe "Tilden" and Ethel (Allen) Smallman in Balkan, Kentucky.
He proudly served as a medic in the US Army in Fort Collins, CO. As part of UAW local #1226, Joe worked at the Chrysler electrical plant in Indianapolis for 36 years, retiring in 1988. He was a devoted member of Broadway/Faithway Baptist Church for 53 years; and was an avid golfer & bowler; and in his later years he developed a love for oil painting. First and foremost, Joe was a family man and cherished friend who was always willing to help anyone in need.
Joe will be deeply missed by his daughters, Sandy Hanaway, Angelia Johnson, Amy (and son-in-law Matt) Winston; his brother, Carl; his niece, Diane Killinger (and her son Nicholas); and grandchildren, Joe Hanaway (wife Brooke and son Jake), Jill Hanaway (fiance Sean Lewis), and Rowan & Georgia Winston.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Everet and Charles Smallman.
Services will be held at 1:30PM on Monday, July 30, 2012 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road in Fishers, with visitation on Sunday, July 29, 2012 from 2:00-5:00PM at the funeral home.
