Joel Richard 'Dick' Wilmoth

Joel Richard (Dick) Wilmoth, 80, of Noblesville passed away on October 21, 2015 following a courageous fight with lung cancer. Dick was born on May 25, 1935 in Indianapolis to Joel Avery and Ruth Lewis Wilmoth. When he was five years old, the family moved to Fishers. He graduated from the original Fishers High School in 1953 and was a member of the 1957 graduating class of Purdue University. He married Judith Janneck Wilmoth on February 7, 1959.
Following graduation from Purdue, Dick was employed for ten years by Standard Oil of Indiana and for 32 years by General Motors. During his retirement, he enjoyed part-time employment at the Fishers YMCA and volunteered for Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County. His first passion, however, was always his family.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by three children: Joel W. (Jennifer) Wilmoth of Fishers, John R. Wilmoth of New York City, Mary W. (Scott) Elliott of Westfield, and eight grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Barbara W. Turner, of Kemp, Texas.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Randall and Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, on Sunday, October 25 from 2 to 5pm. A memorial service will be held at the Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street, Noblesville 46060, on Monday, October 26 at 11am, with an additional visitation from 10am until time of service.
Dick's playful spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He asked that any memorial contributions be made to the Noblesville First United Methodist Church; or, Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County, 395 Westfield Road, Noblesville, IN 46060.
