John C. Craig, 82, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at his home. He was born on May 23, 1932 to Oliver and Wilhemina (Suplee) Craig in Washington, DC.
John received his Bachelor of Science degree from Tri-State, and proudly served his country in the United States Navy Reserve. In 1990, he retired from Allison Transmission where he had been an engineer for 29 years. John was a member of Noblesville First United Methodist Church, and formerly of Chapel Hill U.M.C. for 40+ years. As past Scout Master of Indianapolis Boy Scout Troop #494, he was very active in Scouting for 45 years. John held a membership in the Indianapolis chapter of the Scottish Rite, and was a past member of the Lions Club, Chapel Hill.
He is survived by his wife, Maetta Craig of Noblesville, IN; son, John E. (Beth) Craig of Golden Bridge, NY; daughter, Catherine (Dan) Donahue of Dallas, TX; sister, Marylou Craig of Bloomington, IN; step-son, Thomas (Cindy) Egbert of Carmel, IN; step-daughter, Elizabeth (Kevin) Potter of Mooresville, IN; step-daughter, Ginni Viscardi of Atlanta, GA; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one niece; and three nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Craig, in October 1999.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street, in Noblesville, with Rev. Jack Wolfe officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, October 9 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
