John W. Kennedy, 63, of Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Riverview Health. He was born on September 18, 1954 to James and Bebita (Corya) Kennedy in Mexico City, Mexico.
John was a 1972 graduate of Noblesville High School, and for over 40 years worked for McMahon Food Company, now US. Foods, where he was twice named Employee of the Year. He was past Exalted Ruler of Noblesville Elks 576. John served for 10 years on the Noblesville Alumni Association board, was Vice President and President, and was also awarded the Alumnus of the year honor. John was an avid golfer who was a member of Fox Prairie Men's Club. He was also a lifetime Chicago Cubs fan and Noblesville Millers fan, cheered on the Pacers, Colts and Indiana University, and was a local referee legend.
A generous and much-beloved lifetime resident of Noblesville, John was truly a multi-talented man with many diverse interests. He loved basketball and spent several years gathering autographs of previous Mr. Basketball award recipients in Indiana, with the results of his efforts being auctioned off to benefit the Noblesville Boys Club. Under the name "Board Silly," John created unusual wooden chess and cutting boards. He was an excellent baker and entered the Indiana State Fair cake baking contest many times. Following in his father and grandfather's footsteps, John was a licensed insurance broker.
John is survived by his wife, Terri Sigman-Kennedy; children, Derek (Gail) Kennedy, Aimee (Jamey) Dodd, Madison Stiegman, and Joe Stiegman; brother, James "Chooch" (Marie) Kennedy; sister, Corya Kennedy Channing; six grandchildren, Seamus, Sebastian & Moira Kennedy, Jacob & Luke Dodd, and Rylie Spurgin; nephew, Jimmy Kennedy; as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles & friends who loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Kennedy; and grandparents, Maurice & Effie Kennedy and Richard & Martha Corya.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville, with visitation from 1:00 pm to the time of service. Phil Sigman will officiate.
