Johnie P. Baker, 84, Fishers, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Carmel Care Center. He was born August 3, 1924 in Laura County, Kentucky to Samuel and Elizabeth (Hibbard) Baker.
Johnie had been a farmer, and had also worked for Reynolds Farm Equipment. He retired in 1986. He was a WWII Navy veteran. Johnie was a member of Fishers United Methodist Church; Fishers Hamilton Masonic Lodge #533 F&AM; Fishers Lions Club; and the Whitestown American Legion. He was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen L. (Stultz) Baker of Fishers; son, Johnie Ray Baker of Fishers; daughter, Karen Lintz (Tom) of Fishers; daughter, Linda Hession (Marty); sister, Betty Loraine Turpin of Brownsburg; brother, Roscoe E. Baker of Madison, WI; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, George Baker and Coleman Baker.
Services will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, with Rev. Mike Reed & Rev. Dick Hamm officiating. Friends may call Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00PM at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be held at 4:00PM immediately following visitation. Burial will be at Little Eagle Creek Cemetery in Westfield. Military rites will be given.
