Jon "Jake" Jacobson

Jon Edward "Jake" Jacobson, 73, of Yorktown, passed on to heaven on October 30, 2012, due to Parkinson's and complications of the anesthesia from a knee replacement surgery in April.
Jon was born March 10, 1939, in Indianapolis. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1957, received a BA in Economics from St. Olaf College in 1961 and an MBA from the University of Cincinnati in 1963. Upon graduation, he was offered a job in the Labor Relations Department of Chevrolet Indianapolis and lived with his wife and children in Indianapolis until after his transfer to Chevrolet Muncie in 1975. He moved with his family to Yorktown, IN, in 1978. He retired from the GM plant there as Director of Labor Relations in 1998.
Jake loved the plants and animals on this earth and was an avid fisherman and deer hunter. He also was an excellent athlete who loved sports of all sorts, especially any that his children and grandchildren were playing. Jon and Joy travelled a lot from Alaska to above the Arctic Circle in Norway to the warmth of Hawaii and the Caribbean seas. One of the highlights of his traveling and fishing escapades was going to a lake on the border of Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territory and catching trophy northern pike.
Most of all Jake loved his family and friends and would give anyone of them "the shirt off his back".
He was a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Carmel for 10 years and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Muncie, for 34 years.
Jon is survived by Joy, his wife of 52 years, and by his three children, Jon Jacobson, Kristin Jacobson Potter and Eric Jacobson and their respective spouses Becky, Ridgely, and Karyn; also he is survived by his five grandsons, Alex, Zachary, Preston, Andrew, and Ridgely Jr., and his granddaughter, Natalie, 3 nieces, a nephew and several great nieces and nephews. His father, Kermit, and mother, Dorothy, predeceased him along with several relatives and friends.
A memorial service for Jon will be held on Saturday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m. at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 2201 E. 106th Street in Carmel, IN, with a visitation planned at 1:00 p.m. There will be a Celebration of Life at Maggiano's, 3550 E. 86th St., Indianapolis. Join us anytime from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for your convenience.
You may send flowers to King of Glory for the service or a donation to the American Eagle Foundation in Albion, TN. The website is eagles.org.
Thanks to all who made Jon's life full of love and laughter. We'll all see you later, Jake, at the great fishing hole in the sky.
