Jon Darryl "Darry" Mikesell, 69, of Westfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, surrounded by his family, after a long battle with Vasculitis. He was born on June 27, 1943 to Harold and Nan (Daley) Mikesell in Noblesville, Indiana, and was a lifelong resident of Westfield. He married his high school sweetheart, Becky Gardner Mikesell on July 20, 1963. They were looking forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Darry retired from the Washington Township Fire Department in 2003, after 30 years of dedicated service. He also owned Directional Design and employed several of his fellow firefighters.
Darry's passions were his family and grandchildren, as well as the Indianapolis Colts, IU Basketball, Westfield Shamrocks football, vacationing with his grandchildren, and hunting for antiques and hotrods. His favorite thing was watching his grandchildren play sports. He was a member of Northview Christian Church in Carmel Indiana, and a founding member of the Westfield Historical Society. He spent several years restoring Westfield's first fire engine, a 1923 Model-T, which is often seen at local events.
He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Mikesell; son, Jeffrey Alan Mikesell; daughter, Jennifer (Doug) Revell; brother, Stephen Mikesell; sister, Susan (Lynn) Gang; six grandchildren, Kelsey Childers, Kole McClain, D.J. Revell, Jordan Revell, Daryan Revell and Jacob Revell; and one great grandson, Jayden Childers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmie Mikesell.
