Karen Sundberg Miles , of Fishers, Indiana, passed away on September 17th, 2021. One week before her 78th birthday. She was born to Lois and Carl Sundberg on September 23, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. She was a passionate and loving person, artist, writer, mother and grandmother. She loved nothing more than spending time with family.
She was always a creative person, and given the opportunity to sit at a grand piano, she could quickly pick up where she left off on classical music that she studied in her youth, receiving a music scholarship from Bloomfield Hills High School allowing her to travel Europe at 18.
While being an artist was her lifetime passion, she spent her career in the computer industry as a technical writer. Balancing work and being a mom, she always found time to enjoy life and travel. She spent her retirement years painting, going to workshops, shows. She always found a way to enjoy the outdoors, particularly waterways, and many of her paintings reflect her passion for this love. She loved to travel and lived in many places including Michigan, California, Texas, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland and finally Indiana so that she could be close to family.
"Mom loved: Her Grandkids. The Ocean. Swimming. Grand pianos. Oil paint. Gardenias. Santa Fe. Georgia O' Keefe. Quality, never generic. Cashmere sweaters. Bookstores. Rock and roll or Classical music. Honesty. Her 3 kids."
She will be lovingly remembered, and forever missed, by her three children… Dan Miles, Kris Miles Habing, Wendy Miles Petty
And her five grandchildren…Chris, Dan, Kate, Nick, and Dory.
Services will be for immediate family only on October 1, 2021.
