Following a lengthy illness, Kathleen Gilpin Jones, 94, (formerly of Noblesville) passed away October 2, 2008 at the Rensselaer Care Center, Rensselaer, Indiana.
Kathleen was born September 27, 1914 in Hamilton County, to Frank 'Doc' and Floy (Edwards) Gilpin. She attended Westfield Schools and later graduated from Indiana Business College in 1959. She married Arthur Clarence Jones in October, 1933 and together they had three children. Due to his untimely death, she was widowed in 1955.
Kate, as she was best known, was employed more than twenty years at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, retiring from the payroll department in 1976. She was a loyal employee with a strong work ethic. She became a member of Eastern Star Chapter 200 in 1963 and in 1979 joined Pythian Temple #165. In addition to her fifty-year membership at the First Christian Church, she also enjoyed traveling, ceramics, and crafts.
Preceeding her in death were her husband, parents, son Robert Gene Jones, grandson Brooks Beehler, granddaughter Kim Beehler, four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Sue Ballod, Orlando, FL and Judy (& Roger) Beehler, Rensselaer; and a former daughter-in-law Karen Jones (& Delby) Conley, Greensburg, IN. Surviving siblings include Jo Francis of Albuquerque, NM; Jane (& Bernard) Roudebush, Joan Mayhew and Betty Wilkerson, all of Noblesville. Sisters-in-law include Inez Gilpin of Arcadia; and Willa Gilpin of Indianapolis. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, October 6, 2008 at Randall and Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville at 2:00PM. Friends may call from noon to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will take place at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
