Katlyn Rae Stevenson "Kat", 25, passed away October 19, 2019 after a five-year fight with a rare and aggressive cancer known as adrenal carcinoma. Katlyn was a 2013 graduate of Westfield High School and attended Lourdes University in Ohio. She was a cheerleader through high school and into college. Katlyn continued her love and passion for cheer by fulfilling her dream job as the WHS Head Cheerleading Coach. Katlyn was also a coach at Interactive Academy; ICE All-Stars and worked part-time at Pure Barre in Carmel.
Katlyn was a natural born cheerleader, coach, mentor and encourager. She never met a stranger and you immediately feel in love with her; you couldn’t help yourself, with her infectious smile, compassion, humor and sass with and for everyone. In each encounter she demonstrated how to battle fiercely with grace and how to experience authentic joy in the midst of struggles; how to be courageous and kind and how to have faith in the uncertainty of a horrible disease. Katlyn had a deep love for the Lord and a peace knowing she would be in the arms of Jesus.
Katlyn is survived by her Mom, Carol L. Stevenson of Westfield. Carol and Katlyn had a relationship like no other mother and daughter. Also, surviving are maternal grandparents, Steven and Carolyn Stevenson of Westfield; Aunt, Alle (Nick) Barrett of Westfield; Uncle, John (Sara) Stevenson of Sheridan; nieces and nephews, Taylor Easterbrook, Bart and Sophie Barrett and Sara and Michael Stevenson; Great-Great Aunt, Lois, and extended family. Katlyn was preceded in death by her maternal great-grandparents, Robert and Allene Blackwell; paternal great-grandparents, John and Rosemary Stevenson; and Aunt, Dawn M. Easterbrook. She also leaves behind a community where no one was untouched in some way by her unselfish and quiet soul.
Katlyn’s family is grateful for the exceptional care she received at the St. Vincent Cancer Center and St. Vincent Hospice Center; their unconditional love, compassion and care for Katlyn went above and beyond.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 23 between 2-4 and 5-8 at Grace Church, 5504 146th Street, Noblesville, IN. A service celebrating Katlyn’s life will be held on Thursday, October 24th at 11 am at Grace with a private burial to follow later that day.
