Kay E. Alford, 72, of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Riverwalk Village in Noblesville. She was born on May 3, 1938 to the late Paul and Sara (Bennett) Davie in Indianapolis.
Kay was an independent, free-spirited woman whose life was as varied and adventurous as her careers. She was an air traffic controller when there was only a handful of women in that field. She worked as a marketing event planner for GTE. She had a brief stint as a private investigator and her most favorite career was that of grandma.
Kay never met a club she didn't like. She was a proud member of the Tri Delta Sorority, Red Hat Society, Pink Ladies Cancer Survivors, Bunco Club and Beta Babes of Brownsburg High School.
She graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing. She also achieved membership in Mensa. This accomplishment gave her the ability to discern the best bargains found at numerous garage sales or department stores. She turned shopping into a fine art.
Kay succumbed to cancer at the age of 72. She fought a brave battle with grace and dignity. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. She was lively, fun and brightened any room she entered. She will be missed forever.
She is survived by her husband, Tom Alford; a daughter, Kim Keating Sexson; grandchildren, Tom Sexson, Kelly Sexson, and Corey Sexson; son, Kurt Pfeiffer; stepdaughter, Angela (Jerry) Kinley; grandchildren, Rayna Kinley, Sam Kinley, and Victoria Kinley; and her beloved dog, Eddie.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary. Visitation will start at noon, until time of the service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
