Kenneth David Brooks

Kenneth David Brooks, 55, of Noblesville, passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, September 13, 2017.  He was born on November 10, 1961 in Huntington, West Virginia, the eldest son of David E. and Suzanne (Webb) Brooks.
Ken graduated from Muncie Northside High School in 1980 and attended the University of Evansville on a music scholarship.  In 1983, he received an Associate's Degree in business from the University of Evansville.  Ken loved music from an early age and was quite talented vocally and instrumentally.  He was a member of several music and choral groups, both in high school and college, and he was a wonderful trumpet player.  Ken began scouting as a young boy and was proud to complete his scouting days with the rank of Eagle Scout.  He shared this honor with his two brothers, and took great pride in telling people that there were three Eagles in his family.  In his spare time, Ken enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, bowling and Major League Baseball, with a special love for the St. Louis Cardinals.  At the age of ten, he began playing soccer and thus began a life-long love of the game.  From the mid-1990s to the early 2000s, Ken enjoyed coaching soccer at Noblesville High School and the Noblesville Soccer Club, as well as serving as a referee.  Most of all, Ken loved spending time with his family and many friends.  He will be greatly missed by many, including his beloved dog, Sammie.
In 1991, he renewed a friendship with a classmate and fellow choral member from high school who became the love of his life, his wife of 26 years, Jane (Bloom) Brooks.  Ken is also survived by two children, Katie J. Brooks and Andrew C. Shaw (wife Tasha); his parents, David E. and Suzanne Brooks; his father-in-law, Dr. Gilbert L. Bloom; two brothers, William Kevin Brooks (wife Melodie) and Donald J. Brooks (wife Lauren); and a sister, Deborah L. Douglas (husband Joe). He is also survived by four grandchildren whom he loved deeply and were the light of his life, Ethan L. Shaw, Ella H. Shaw, Sophia M. Cornelius and Harper L. Cornelius.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, and one great-niece also survive him.
Ken was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Christine Vernon Jones; paternal grandparents, Edgar L. and Mary Kilgore Brooks; and two nephews, Justin and JD Douglas.
Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with visitation from 10:00 am to the time of service.  Pastor Sherrie Drake will officiate.  Burial will be at Elm Ridge Memorial Park in Muncie at a later date.
