Kimberly Annette McMillan

Kimberly McMillan, 49, Noblesville, passed peacefully Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, 2018, at Riverview Health, three days before her 50th birthday. She was surrounded by her loving family.  She was born 50 years ago today, Sept. 8, 1968, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, the daughter of Charles C. and Dorothy O. McMillan. She grew up the youngest of three children, with siblings, Charlie McMillan Jr. and Debbie (McMillan) Mason, both of Noblesville.
"Kimmy" was a sweet, funny, gifted and one-of-kind sister who was creative and artistic and led a crazy-fun and adventurous life. During one summer, as a teen, she raced BMX bikes. She was a 1987 graduate of Noblesville High School, where she discovered her passion for art, with her favorite medium being charcoal. At NHS, she earned a Scholastic Gold Key award in Visual Arts for her charcoal drawing of Michelangelo's Virgin Mary. She was involved in theater/drama productions, both on stage and behind the scenes, painting the sets. She was also a member of the choir. During her senior year, she was named "Class Clown" and received a brick award for that honor. She was also recognized in "Who's Who Among American High School Students." She attended Indiana State University, studying graphic design, 1987-89; and attended IUPUI Herron School of Art, 1993-94. She managed the front office of her family's business, the former McMillan's Shell, which is now McMillan's Auto Care & Towing, in downtown Noblesville, 1985-1998. She proclaimed herself "Petro Princess" and would often entertain customers who would stop in just to talk to her.  She loved to make people laugh and competed with her stand-up-comedy monologues in a Women of Comedy contest in Indianapolis.
She was owner of The Otherside Vintage Collectibles in Noblesville, 1994-1998; assistant department head/sales for Galyan's Trading Post in Carmel, 1996-97; assistant store manager of D.E.M.O., an urban clothing retailer in Riverside, Calif., 1998-2000; and department manager for Big Kmart in Noblesville, 2000-2005. She also worked in a bakery in Alabama, Trader Joe's and Starbucks, and she was a lunch lady at Fishers High School cafeteria. She completed training in 2008 to be a chef at The Chef's Academy in Indianapolis, where she had the unique opportunity to complete a culinary internship at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla.
She loved animals, especially her black pug, Grady. She was an avid collector of vintage and collectible toys. She was a kid at heart and loved all kinds of toys, enjoying five years working in the toy department at Kmart.
