Kurt Edwin Stein, 62, of New Palestine, passed away on November 6, 2018, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on April 5, 1956 to Edwin and Jeanette (Hartman) Stein in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Kurt was loved by many and will be greatly missed. He was a fantastic example of what a father, husband, friend, grandfather, son, and uncle should be. Family was his greatest priority. He was funny, sarcastic, genuinely loving, and generous. He was a gracious host and loved taking on the role of amateur travel agent and party planner for family and friends. Kurt loved the outdoors, the ocean, hunting, fishing, scuba diving, sitting around the bonfire, and holiday traditions. He proudly served in the United States Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Karen (McMahon) Stein; children, Michelle (Robert) Boogar, Colleen Stein, Nicole (Joel) Engelberth, Ashley Stein, and Christopher (Mersades) Stein; grandchildren, Ethan, Madelynn, Skylar, and Brooklyn Boogar, and Autumn Engelberth. He also has many nieces, nephews, and in-laws that he cared for deeply.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen Lyon.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers.
