Larry Glen Bumbales

Larry Glen Bumbales, 80, of Noblesville, IN, formerly of Gary/Merrillville/Crown Point, IN passed away on July 8, 2023.

He is survived by his son, Nicholas (Cristine) Bumbales of Saint Charles, IL; daughter, Amy (Dennis) Otten of Fishers, IN; grandchildren, Taylor Ramos, Emily Otten and Matthew Otten; siblings, Donna Jean Bumbales and Kenneth Bumbales; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

Larry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Carolyn (nee Watson) Bumbales; parents, Stanley L. and Helen (nee Wrubel) Bumbales; and brothers, Stanley R. Bumbales and Joseph Bumbales.

Larry had a great zest for life and lived each moment to the fullest. In his youth, he enjoyed playing tennis at Gleason Park in Gary, IN and participated in tournaments throughout the area. He was a 1960 graduate of Gary Lew Wallace High School. Larry worked at US Steel Gary Works, was a long-time truck driver who traveled throughout the country, was a member of the Lake County Sheriff’s Department and also was briefly a small business owner in Merrillville, IN. He enjoyed watching his brothers, children and grandchildren participate in sports activities. Larry was an avid sports fan of all kinds who passed his love of sports down to his children and grandchildren. He was also a newspaper reader, stock market and horse racing enthusiast. Larry was a friend to many and not afraid to take someone in who was down on their luck.
