Larry Joe Byers

Larry Joe Byers, 86, of Fishers, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025 at Allisonville Meadows in Fishers. He was born on May 11, 1938 to Ermal and Mildred (Breeden) Byers in Bloomington, Indiana. 

Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army. He received a bachelor's degree from Purdue University and worked for RCA as an engineer for over 35 years. Larry was honored by winning two David Sarnoff awards for outstanding technical achievement during his tenure with RCA, he also had pattens with the US Army for his work on various guided missile projects.

He had a lifelong love affair with the automobile, from road races at mid-Ohio with his friends to enjoying the Indianapolis 500. Larry enjoyed auto shows and going to the Mecum car auction.

Although he did graduate from Purdue University with his engineering degree, Larry followed Indiana University sports. He was an avid Indiana University, basketball and football fan, attending every game he could for almost 40 years showing a lifelong commitment to the university and their sports programs.

Larry was a devoted son who would often travel on the weekends back to Bloomington to help care for his aging parents during their decline. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol Byers; and his son, Christopher (Jennifer) Byers. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents. 

Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with military honors at 4:00 pm, on Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, in Fishers.
