Lawrence (Larry) Robert Kennedy, 57, of Noblesville, IN passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 in Lake Mary, FL. He was born on September 18, 1957 to Robert Lawrence and Bernetta (Fettig) Kennedy in Saginaw, MI.
Larry was the owner and operator of Red Wing Shoe Stores #614 in Waldorf, MD, #609 in Palm Harbor, FL and #869 in Washington, PA. He received his Bachelors of Science degree for Electrical Engineering, at Michigan Tech, and a Master of Science at University of Southern California in Systems Architecting and Engineering. He was a member of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) as a certified Systems Engineering Professional Engineer; as well as the Michigan Tech Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Advisory Board: CSEP, MSSARE Independent Professional EAC member since 1997, and Chair as of Fall 2012. Larry enjoyed working the last 13 months of his life as the VP of Engineering at Powerteq (an MSDP company).
He was a faithful (and punctual) Catholic; and enjoyed date night with his ‘smokin' hot' wife and spending quality time with his family. Other things he enjoyed include water skiing, remote control helicopter and drone recreational operator, remote control helicopter and drone crash tester, exploration and utilization of the latest technological gadgets, official kite flyer of Morse Reservoir, official kite sinker of Morse Reservoir, guitar and bass player, Kennedy family official Grill Master, Indy's Top Mickey Mouse waffle chef extraordinaire, Oakbay's very own Master Cicerone (in his own mind) and cocktail experimentalist, official ‘Corny Dad joke' enthusiast, and the World's Elite ‘Daddy Hug' giver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Barlage) Kennedy; daughters, Stevie (Stuart) Kennedy Showalter and Maureen Kennedy; sisters, Jackie Kennedy, Nancy (Don) Kennedy Kiley and Sheila (Mike) Kennedy Collison; nieces & nephews, Annmarie, Gary, Mike, Tina, Mike, Kristie, Chris Kristal, Kelli and Ben; great nieces & nephews, Samantha, Joseph, Desiree, Robert, Ryon, Zackary, Robert, Brooklynn; great-great nephew, Matthew; sisters-in-law and husbands, Suzie (Barlage) & Fraser Gorrell, Deborah (Barlage) & Rob Phebus, Jan (Barlage) & Jeff Habermas, Sheila (Barlage) & Mark Galaz, Beth (Barlage) & Tim Flory; additional nieces & nephews, Bryan, Barbie, Elissa, Shane, Katie, Aaron, Jacob, Zachary, Paul, Lucas, Nick, Alex, Claire, Eliza and Gabe; and additional great nieces & nephews, Anna, Madison, Avery, Leah, Nate & Ben, Lilianna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Kennedy; and in-laws, Thomas Barlage and Suzanne (Fritz) Barlage.
Visitations will be held at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, January 31, 2015 and also from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, February 1, 2015. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street, Noblesville, IN 46060 at 11:00 am on Monday, February 2, 2015, with visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 am immediately prior to the service.
