Merideth "Lee" Stoops, Noblesville, passed away June 18, 2009 at Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born October 14, 1946 in Indianapolis to John Lawrence and Edna (Hatcher) Stoops.
Lee served his country in the U.S. Army doing three tours of duty in Vietnam. He worked for 9 1/2 years at Firestone in Noblesville. Lee was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion, Noblesville Post. Lee was a past commander of both the American Legion in Noblesville and the VFW in Fortville. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, and camper. He enjoyed his grandchildren. Lee had a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Stoops of Noblesville; mother, Edna Warren of Noblesville; daughter, Naomi Crecelius of Noblesville; daughter, Melissa (Charlie) Mullins of Arcadia; daughter, Debbie (Ryan) Mounts of Westfield; daughter, Shaleen Dixon; son, Thomas Zion of Anderson; brother, John Stoops of Greenfield; brother, Doug Stoops of Atlanta; brother, Bobby Stoops of Indianapolis; brother, James Stoops of Indianapolis; sister, Roseanne Perry of Noblesville; sister, Karen Beeson of Summitville; 17 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Lee is preceded in death by his father, John Lawrence Stoops; brothers Gene Stoops and Jackie Stoops; and sister, Dorothy Thompson.
Services will be held at 1:00PM on Monday, June 22, 2009 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home in Noblesville. Friends may call Sunday, June 21, 3:00 - 7:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery, 4180 Westfield Road, Noblesville.
