Lena L. Ketring, 93, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Harbour Manor Care Center, Noblesville, Indiana. She was born July 30, 1919, in Randolph County, Indiana, to Fred and Laura Cheesman.
Lena graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1937. She married Donald Monroe Ketring on August 7, 1937. Over the years they lived in Richmond, Fountain City and Cicero, Indiana. Lena retired in 1974 from the Wayne County Health Department. She and Don spent summers during their retirement helping friends operate Grandpa's Farm Campground near Richmond, and lived winter months at their home in Eustis, Florida. They moved in 1991 and lived their remaining years in Cicero, Indiana. She was also a member of Cicero United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Tom) Barker, and Diana (Jim) Jones, both of Cicero; one son, Daniel (Lynne) Ketring, of Noblesville; two sisters, Marjorie Manning, of Lynn, IN; and Freda (Forrest Joe) Helms, of Eustis, FL; four grandchildren, Brenda (Barth) Porter; Debbie (Ken) DeVries; Travis (Alyssa) Ketring; and Jamie (Ted) Hill; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald M. Ketring; an infant son, Gerald E. Ketring; a grandson, Nathan Daniel Ketring; and one sister.
Services will be held at 5:30 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville. Visitation will be prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the funeral home. A brief Graveside Service and burial will be at Spring Lawn Cemetery, 201 Cedar Springs Road, New Paris, Ohio, at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 29, 2013.
