On Monday afternoon, April 24, 2017, Leretta June (Clift) Beyer, lovingly known as Leretta or Rita to her friends, went home to be with the Lord. She had just turned 92 years old.
Leretta was born to Herschel and Goldie Irene Clift in Fillmore, Indiana, and was preceded in death by her sister Frieda Tyler.
After the death of her first husband, Carl Emerson Mires, on July 30, 1945, when the USS Indianapolis was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine, Leretta married Charles Anthony Beyer. They were married 52 wonderful years before his passing and had five children, who now survive her: Larry and Becky Graber Beyer, Kokomo, IN; Skip and Mary Orders Beyer, Roanoke IN; Sherri Beyer Brown, Tualatin, OR; Terry Lee and Kathy Blackwell Beyer, Tampa, FL, and Janice Ann Beyer of Noblesville IN. Leretta often said Dad was both her husband and a "father to her" being nine years her senior.
Leretta boasted of her 13 grandchildren: Stephanie Beutler, Kelly Ritter, Andrew Brown, Lori Hetrick, Brian Beyer, Emily Burruano, Sarah Whiteman, Rachel Selby, Isaac Beyer, Johnny Brown, Beccah Wagner, Adam Beyer and Rebekah Beyer Macy.
Leretta had 24 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She loved spending time with family, often cooking her famous "beef 'n noodles and mashed potatoes" dinner for them.
Leretta was employed by Fall Creek School systems for 17 years, followed by 25 years at Brown Tape Products in Indianapolis until retiring in 2013.
She was a longstanding member of Central Christian Church in Carmel IN and later College Park Church in Indianapolis.
Leretta was a prayer warrior and encouraged her children and grandchildren to live for Christ. She left a legacy of faith, prayer, service to others, and most of all - LOVE.
