Lester Leon 'Andy' Anderson, 94, of Noblesville, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2013 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, after a brief illness. He was born to Lawrence and Alta Jane (Stottlemyer) Anderson on January 26, 1919 on a farm near Lapel, Indiana.
'Andy' graduated from Lapel High School in 1936 and married Dortha Marie 'Dort' Musselman on May 24, 1941. They enjoyed 68 years of marriage before her death in November, 2009. They worked hard together in farming the Musselman land all those years. Besides grain farming, they raised large herds of beef cattle, plus the chicken house was filled with laying hens. He was a dedicated farmer who put in years of long days, working the "old fashioned" way, without today's electronic and "modern" equipment and machinery. He was very resourceful and creative in constructing and repairing his tools and implements.
He was a member of Prairie Baptist Church, having lived on the same farm in the Prairie Baptist community of Wayne Township, for 72 years.
He was affectionately called 'Uncle Andy' by surviving nieces and nephews: Don and Marilyn King, Diane McCrystal, Marjorie and Glenn Gimple, Irene and John Strong, and Marcia and Billy McKowen; 16 great nieces and nephews; 26 great-great nieces and nephews; and a great-great-great niece and nephew. He was also 'Uncle Andy' to lots of cousins.
He is survived by very special friends, Terry and Joani Lawson, plus a host of other friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dortha; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clarence and Mary Musselman; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Milton and Alice King; sisters and brother-in-laws, Alberta and Bob Anderson, and Lillian and Earl Roudebush; and nephews, Lawrence Roudebush and Craig McCrystal.
Services will be held at 1:30 PM on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, in Noblesville, with Andy's great nephew, Pastor Denny Stevenson, officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
