Loral H. Mahan, 97, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Rittenhouse Senior Living of Indianapolis. He was born on September 18, 1917 to Loral and Flossie (Ruffner) Mahan in Anderson, Indiana.
Loral was a World War II veteran in the European Theater, where he was a Motor Pool Staff Sergeant in the Combat Engineers; he was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, two Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Railway Express Agency (REA) after 35 years, where he had been a Delivery Services Supervisor; was a lifetime member of Bellaire United Methodist Church in Indianapolis; and was a 25-year member of Central Indiana Bicycling Association (CIBA), where he completed 22 Hilly Hundred bicycle events.
He is survived by daughter, Dorothy (Edgar) Pierce; son, Dennis (Tanya) Mahan; and granddaughter, Britt Mahan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Glendon Mahan, who passed away in December 2013.
The family would like to thank Rittenhouse Senior Living for their care and kindness over the past many years.
Services were private. Burial was at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
