Loren R. Williams, former Superintendent of Noblesville Schools, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023. He was born on January 24, 1928 to Emmett D. and Lenna (Roush) Williams in Richmond, Indiana.
Mr. Williams served as Superintendent of Noblesville Schools for 22 years, retiring in 1992. Prior to his superintendency, he was principal of Noblesville High School for 1 year, and Noblesville Junior High for 7 years. He also was the principal of Cunningham High School in Alexandria, Indiana, and taught and coached at Summitville High School, his hometown. He held degrees from Anderson College (now Anderson University) and Ball State University. He played basketball for 4 years, and ran track and cross country for 2 years, at Anderson College. Upon his retirement, he was named Superintendent Emeritus by the Noblesville Schools Board of School Trustees, and the Noblesville High School library bears his name. He was honored by Governor Evan Byah with Indiana's highest honor, the Sagamore of the Wabash.
Mr. Williams served as President of the Board of the Boys and Girls Club of Noblesville, serving on the board for 26 years. He represented Indiana and Kentucky on the National Area Council, and served as President of the Indiana Counsel, of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He was recognized for his leadership by the National Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He also served in the United States Army, as a Master Sergeant in the Combat Engineers.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Farmer (Don) Smith of Carmel, Indiana, and Susan (John) Kline of Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Marilyn (Reid) Williams; son, James Allen Williams; siblings, Richard Williams, Maurice Williams, Eldon Williams, and Mildred Humphrey.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Noblesville First United Methodist Church, 2051 Monument Street in Noblesville. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to the time of service at the church.
