Lorena Marie Shively passed away on June 1, 2022, 3 days shy of her 99th birthday. She was born on June 4, 1923 to Russell and Marie Wiles in Noblesville, Indiana, where she spent most of her life. Harley Shively, her beloved husband of 49 years, and her son, Steve Shively, preceded her in death.
Lorena graduated with a degree in music and English from Indiana Central College in 1946. The majority of her career was spent teaching music in the Noblesville Elementary Schools before retiring in 1985.
She always loved music, and especially enjoyed playing the violin. In her younger years, she played with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and throughout her life she enjoyed playing violin solos in church. Well into her eighties she continued to play her violin as well as the piano in her home.
Lorena placed great value in her family staying connected, always looking forward to the next gathering. Friends recognized her as a woman of strong faith and compassion for others. She had a wonderful memory that amazed family and friends. We all benefited from and enjoyed hearing about memories of her life experiences.
Her family will miss her greatly: daughters, Rebecca Molebash (husband Kirk) and Priscilla Cobb; daughter-in-law, Jane Shively; grandchildren, Lisa Reily (husband Brian), Brendan Molebash (wife Bethany), Jeremy Cobb (wife Jannine), Laura Daily (husband Brian), Daniel Shively (wife Starla), and Matthew Shively (wife Bobbi); and 13 great-grandchildren.
Lorena and her family appreciate the kindness and care of the staff at Sanders Glen Assisted Living in Westfield, Indiana.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, June 11, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, Noblesville, where a service will be held immediately following visitation. Rev. Michael Biggs will officiate.
