Loretta Anne McDowell

Loretta A. (Harger) McDowell, 71, of Sheridan, passed away on the evening of Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Riverview Health. She was born on January 14, 1945 to the late Leroy Harger and Pauline Stites in Noblesville, Indiana.
Loretta was a 1963 graduate of Noblesville High School. For 32 years, she was an Engineering Supervisor for Indiana Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1999 after 32 years. Loretta was a member of the United Methodist Church, and more recently attended Cicero United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, camping, Christmas and the music of the season, and singing in the church choir at Cicero & Union UMCs. Loretta was a member of Good Sam RV group and 63/64 Ladies Luncheon Group, and volunteered with Relay for Life cancer walk in Noblesville. She was a passionate lover of animals, especially her cat, Mimi. Most of all, Loretta loved her family and spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband, Philip W. McDowell; son, Scott McDowell; daughter, Mellissa (Woody) Brazill; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nelson; brothers, Ritch Harger, Edward Buskirk, and Leslie Earl; sisters, Kris (Mike) Blackburn and Carol Husbands; niece & nephew, Katelyn Blackburn and Ryan Blackburn; as well as several aunts, uncles & cousins.
Loretta was blessed with 2 mothers, being raised by the late Mary Harger. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Roy & Luella Harger; a brother & sister; and several aunts & uncles.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan Street, in Noblesville. Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 23 at Cicero United Methodist Church, 100 E. Jackson Street in Cicero, with Rev. Byron Fritz officiating. Burial will follow at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
