Louis Martin

Louis Keith "Louie" Martin, 72, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at The Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on May 17, 1939 to Louis and Catherine (Roth) Martin in Boonville, IN.
He was a graduate of Huntingburg High School class of 1957. Louis attended Indiana State University, IUPUI and earned an Associates Degree from Vincennes University. He joined the US Army during the Korean War, where he served with honor as a paratrooper in the 101 Airborne Infantry.
Louis worked as a security guard and in material control for Ford Motor Company for 31 years retiring in 1999. Previously he had worked for RCA, Stewart-Warner, and Curtis-Dyna Products. He was a past President and current member of the Board of Directors of the Double 11 Credit Union. He was a past President and member of Lawrence Jaycees. He served in various leader roles in youth sports and scouting organizations when his children were young. He enjoyed fly fishing, antique cars, playing bridge, painting, gardening, and traveling. He and Patricia visited every state in the union, and every continent, save Antarctica. He always enjoyed a good party, especially if he got to "play host." Most of all, he loved to talk with other people.
He is survived by wife, Patricia Irene (Venard) Martin of Indianapolis, IN; son, Bruce Alan Beal (Davena) of Chicago, IL; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Carson (Jesse) of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Catherine Fiona Carson and Andrew Gregory Carson of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Diana Roberts (Jim) of Greenwood, IN; and Cindy Greenwood (Gary) of Granbury, TX.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Scott Martin.
Services will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Randall & Roberts Fishers Mortuary, 12010 Allisonville Road, Fishers, IN where friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis. All who knew him are welcome.
