Louis A. Ortiz, 99, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at Riverview Hospital. He was born on August 6, 1914 to José and Angelita Ortiz in Monte Vista, Colorado.
Louis had worked for Goeke Chrysler as a mechanic before retiring in 1980, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, and a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus. Louis enjoyed fishing and doing yard work. He was a very devoted husband to his adoring wife, and he loved to spoil his grandchildren
He is survived by his daughters, Beverly Head, Shirley (David) Sappenfield, and Doris 'Debbie' (Gary) Shaffer; grandchildren, Christopher (Lori) Head, Ashley (Crystal) Head, Michael (Amber) Kemper, David & Lauren Sappenfield, and Jaret (Amy) Shaffer; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marian M. Ortiz; five brothers; two sisters; several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 9900 East 191st Street, in Noblesville, with visitation beginning at 10:30 am until the time of service. Rev. Tom Metzger will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Indianapolis.
